You kids out there watching, if that runner didn’t slide into first he would have beaten the throw . Sliding is ok in situations like trying to avoid a swipe tag by the first baseman.
@Michael Latko No far from it . I was just trying to make a point to a young player learning the game . As far as myself goes , I’m just a retired narcotics agent who worked for the DEA . I also coached LLB .

Sliding into first base works about 1% of the time. 2% of the time the runner ends up injuring his hand. Unless there’s a high throw that pulls the basemen off the bag, it’s totally irrelevant.
