  1. Not too long ago the league was making a stink about being inside the baseline when running to first. This would be a hard left on that. And i can see someone getting stupidly hurt taking a wide turn going for two and forgetting it’s there.

  2. In my opinion, this will not ruin Major League Baseball. As I just informed several viewers of this particular Brodie Brazil YouTube video (already) — if someone is against this — in my opinion: you are against human safety for your very own selfish entertainment purposes. I am against ghost runners in extra innings; but I have still chosen to watch Major League Baseball games. I would even go a step further by making all the bases lower like home plate.

  3. Some of you people in the comments will find anything to complain about. This doesn’t change the game in any way, other than making it safer.

  4. OK, but make it so the “safety base” only counts for the overrunning-the-base situation. If you’ve gotten a clean base hit into the outfield to where you will make the turn and maybe continue to 2nd, you have to touch the white base. You’d do it anyway for its being just a tiny bit faster for you to do so, but make it a rule that if you’ve only touched the safety base yet you’re turned, it’s the same as the appeal play of “Didn’t touch the base” if the ball is thrown to the 1B who’s touching the bag before the runner retreats to 1st.

  5. This wouldn’t be a huge change. I don’t like the idea of an “orange” base, but I’d be for this.

  6. I remember Bryce Harper running out a ground ball on a rainy day. His foot slipped on the wet bag, his knee bent at a very awkward angle, and he tumbled head over heels to the ground. Fortunately, he wasn’t seriously injured, but he could’ve been.

  7. United States 1940: Approximately (176.1) cm ((5) ft (9) in)
United States 2025: The average height for men in the U.S. is about 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm).
Besides two inches in height, weight and training makes participants in MLB even larger than U.S. average. It makes sense to adjust the field of play if current circumstances make it necessary.
PS – if NFL can add football end zone pylon. A bright orange marker placed at each corner of the end zone to clearly define the boundaries of the goal line and end zone.

    • Let move the mound back further too. Let’s go all Bob Gibson on dominate pitchers again.

  8. I think I’m going to find a way to watch old games. I’m tired of old baseball disappearing. 2:56 this is ridiculous. It’s not the same sport I grew up with already.
Baseball is the only sport that has least injuries. NO NO NO this angers me so greatly. I want pathway collision back. I want Catcher smashing back. Baseball is just getting dumb now. It was already a great safe sport

  9. I would stop watching for good if this happened.

    • @thomashenshallhydraxis: Understood, you are against human safety for your selfish entertainment purposes. I am against ghost runners in extra innings; but I have chosen to still watch Major League Baseball games. I would even go a step further by making all the bases lower like home plate.

  10. @davidbrian8336: does it really ruin the game? As I just informed @davidbrian8336. If someone is against this in my opinion: you are against human safety for your selfish entertainment purposes. I am against ghost runners in extra innings; but I have chosen to still watch Major League Baseball games. I would even go a step further by making all the bases lower like home plate.

  11. Ankle guards would save injuries. Collisions won’t decrease much at all considering the momentum of players running. Collisions happen at Second base as well, what about there? Better wrap players in bubble wrap i guess. For the second least injury prone sport, this is ridiculous.

  12. I wonder if a change first base needs its Buster Posey moment.

    • It would be the leagues own fault too.
