You know in Sci-Fi, in the Star Trek universe, baseball died out by 2042. Sometimes I wonder if MLB is trying to make that prediction come true.
If the World Series were only one game, like the SuperBowl, I could see that. But to rob the home team AL/NL champions of their enjoyment(and revenue)over several days, it would be sad.
Dummest idea ever
Be a fan of your team for the entire year and then get rewarded for your team making it the World Series for some other city to host it.
Let’s talk logistics. You can’t pick the site before the season, since that team may surprise and actually make the WS. So, they need to wait and see what sites are available each year!
So, let’s say best case, MLB can announce the WS site mid August. And we’ll use Miami as the example. If MLB wants the fan fest type experience, would a convention center be available that week in Miami? Doubtful, since most convention centers are books months in advance.
And it would be stupid to host it in a non MLB city. Besides, most non MLB cities don’t have a ballpark that seats 40K!

If my team, Seattle Mariners, ended up playing out in Miami for the entirety of the World Series—I’d be pretty furious. Even if it’s just 3 out of 7 games… at least it’ll be 3 out of 7 games of being surrounded by an excited city.

Let’s just play all games at a neutral site, and even create neutral names for the teams so as to Not “Offend” somebody.
Baseball doesn’t need this crap at all. It works great for the NFL but leave baseball, hockey and NBA alone.
Gonna be honest the Super Bowl would be better if it wasn’t a neutral site. No way to make that a fair game though
Go to 2-2-3 format. Games 1-4 are played in home stadiums and 5-7 are neutral site.
